I wasn’t totally sure what to expect with this advent calendar, but It has totally exceeded my expectations! It has all of the days easily, and clearly laid out, with extra days supplies needed in an envelope. It comes with a booklet that shows for every day what is to be done. Giving this to my son as a birthday gift, but I first see it being some thing my whole family will love! I received an incentive to write this review.

so i bought this for my science loving 8 year old, and after the first week or so he wasn't excited and didn't even open the days, which was really sad, and here is why: this calendar requires experiments that can take a while to put together, and also requires a bunch of extra stuff, some of which you will need to buy. we almost never had time to do the experiment in the morning, and after a while it snowballed and now there are many experiments we will need to do perhaps over Christmas break. also, it just wasn't fun to open. there is a book with each experiment in it, and you can read thru it ahead if you want, which i would advise opening it and reading thru the entire book and buying the extra stuff or preparing yourself for all of these experiments ahead of time, it might make it more fun for your kids in the future. i for one, will definitely stick to cute toy or chocolate calendars from now on. to the makers, if you read this, please update this and only do experiments that take a couple minutes, or change the age of this. it definitely required an adult and lots of extra stuff on the parents part, and truly ruined the fun of a quick advent treat in the morning.

This thing is AWESOME. My 7yo girl has loved it, and I’ve enjoyed doing them with her. Some were little projects I had seen/heard about but hadn’t tried. Most were immediate gratification after a bit of prep, but some require more set-and-forget for a while, which is a little tough at this age but good practice with delayed gratification. Would def recommend. Also I love that there aren’t a ton of wasted plastic materials.

After the first or 2nd tricks, kids were not interested. Finally a year later we did this all in one day to get rid of it. A couple were neat but still lost interested
